Pat first joined Teamsters Local 987 on May 6th, 1975, as a Delivery Driver for Silverwoods Dairies. In 1976 Silverwoods Dairies was bought by Alpha Dairies and Pat continued to work there as a Home Service Driver and later transferred to become a Wholesale Driver where he remained until he was hired by the Local as a Business Agent in 1992. While working at the Dairy Pat was a Shop Steward and in 1985 Pat became a member of the Local Union Executive Board as the Recording Secretary.

Pat was re-elected to this office in 1986 and 1991.

Pat was hired by the Local in 1992 as a Business Agent and has served in that capacity ever since.

In 1991 Pat was elected as a rank and file member to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Convention. This was the first time that Delegates were elected to attend the convention from the general membership.

Pat has served as a Trustee on the Local Union Pension Fund since 1992 and has taken numerous courses in Pension Fund Management. Pat is currently working on his Advanced Trustee Management Standards Certificate and shall complete this requirement in 2008.

Pat was elected President of the Local in 2006.

Pat completed his University Degree in Labour Relations in 2000.

Pat has been active in the community where in the past he was elected Chairman of his Church Council for three consecutive terms. Pat has also coached minor soccer teams and was the President of his bowling league.
