Darin became a Teamster in July 7, 1995 when he was hired at Parmalat Canada as a Mixmaker. Darin became a Shop Steward in 1998 and was elevated to Chief Steward in 1999.

In 2003 and 2006 Darin was part of the bargaining team representing the rank and file members during Parmalat negotiations. During his time at Parmalat he was known as a strong advocate for the members with a no-nonsense approach to grievance handling and labour relations. Darin attended the shop steward seminars that are offered annually by Local 987.

In 2007 Darin was brought on by Local 987 to serve as a Business Agent and part-time Organizer completing the Teamster Leadership Academy Business Agents Basics and Organizing courses.

In 2008 Darin was a Local 987 delegate to the Canadian Labour Congress Convention held in Toronto.

Currently Darin represents all members in various industries at Local 987.
