Drive Up Standards

SCHOOL BUS EMPLOYEES – ALBERTA

There is a national campaign going on in Canada and the United States to organize all school bus employees into the Teamsters Union. Drive Up Standards is a campaign to improve safety, service and work standards in the private school bus and transit industry. The Teamsters Union now represents nearly 31,000 members in the school bus industry, with more than 18,400 employees at First Student. Since 2006 there have been over 100 victories at locations across Canada and the United States.

First Student employees in three Edmonton yards, Vegreville, Fort Saskatchewan, Morinville, and St. Albert have voted 76% in favor of their first, First Student contract. These 417 employees are now proud new members of Teamsters Local 987. Become part of the movement to Drive Up Standards in the school bus industry and join the Teamsters Union today. To view the excitement across North America check out the website at www.schoolbusworkersunited.org and click on Canada Teamsters.

With 40% or more employee signatures on a petition (for your area) application can be made to hold a Alberta Labour Board Conducted Vote to determine Teamster Representation. Help us, help you, by signing the Union petition. If you have any questions or concerns or for more information on where to sign up call Bob Brunet (780-504-9222).
